What kind of freedom can we have? And how do we deal with social regulations? It is often the contrasts that sharpen our view of the everyday. Yasaman Hasani's work straddles the border between two cultures. She studied painting and animation film in Tehran. She is now researching Iranian film at the University of Applied Arts.
Different perspectives and realities of life in society and politics are the breeding ground for her art. Her films and installations are both poetic and political. She juxtaposes feminist achievements with patriarchal structures, avant-garde formal language meets traditional symbolism. Since moving to Austria, she has expanded her artistic scope with expansive settings.
In Scheibbs, her conversations with "Zuagroaste" (a typical Austrian term for strangers) serve as a starting point for her work, which she is presenting as part of an exhibition.
